Calcium Gluconate Injection, often referred to as Calciglu injection, is used to treat conditions caused by low calcium levels in the blood (hypocalcemia) and to rapidly restore calcium in emergency situations. Doctors may give it for muscle cramps or spasms due to calcium deficiency, certain heart problems related to high potassium levels, magnesium toxicity, or calcium loss after blood transfusions. It is also used in some cases of osteoporosis, rickets, parathyroid disorders, and severe allergic reactions as supportive treatment. The injection is usually administered slowly by a healthcare professional in a hospital or clinic because rapid administration can affect heart rhythm. Possible side effects include pain at the injection site, nausea, flushing, low blood pressure, or irregular heartbeat if given too quickly.
